Description
The AKCP SNMP temperature sensor is a device used to monitor temperature in environments where it’s critical to prevent damage to sensitive equipment, such as server rooms and data centers. Here’s a breakdown of its key features and how it works:
Key Features:
- Accurate Temperature Monitoring: Designed to record precise temperature data, providing early warnings of fluctuations that could harm IT equipment.
- SNMP Enabled: Uses Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to communicate with monitoring systems, allowing for remote monitoring and alerts.
- Easy Installation: Typically comes with clips for easy installation in server cabinets or other locations.
- Extendable: Some models can be extended with standard CAT5/6 cables, allowing for monitoring in larger areas.
- Compatibility: Works with AKCP’s sensorProbe and securityProbe monitoring platforms.
How it Works:
- Sensing: The sensor measures the ambient temperature.
- Data Transmission: The temperature data is sent via SNMP to a monitoring device (like a computer running monitoring software).
- Alerts: If the temperature exceeds predefined thresholds, the monitoring system can send alerts (e.g., email, SMS) to notify administrators.
- Data Logging: The monitoring system can log temperature data over time, allowing for trend analysis and identification of potential issues.
Benefits AKCP SNMP temperature sensor:
- Proactive Monitoring: Helps prevent equipment damage and downtime by providing early warnings of temperature problems.
- Remote Monitoring: Allows for temperature monitoring from anywhere on the network.
- Centralized Management: Integrates with other SNMP-enabled devices for centralized monitoring and management.

Important Note | The fixed one-foot type or TMP01 is not designed to be extended. If you need to extend these sensors then you need to use the TMP00 (remote type). We also do not recommend you try to connect any of our AKCP sensors including the temperature and dual temp humidity sensors through patch panels or using the RJ-45 couplers to extend them. Please see the temperature sensors product manual or FAQ in our knowledge base for more details regarding this. |
